This message was not very popular among the disciples; in fact, Luke was the only one to include it in his gospel. He did not present it as a parable taught by Jesus, leading scholars to believe that the "Good Samaritan" story was an actual event. The story is not just about performing a good deed for someone in need; it is about the grace and mercy we should extend to our neighbor as believers. This raises the question: who do we consider our neighbor? The story challenges our perceptions, revealing that our neighbor is not just the friend next door or someone within our community. The "Good Samaritan" teaches that everyone, including our enemies, is our neighbor. This narrative exposes the true nature of our hearts and calls us to show compassion and kindness to all, regardless of our differences.
