The Commission

According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, the word commission refers to "an instruction, command, or duty given to a person or group of people." Being a Navy guy, I am also drawn to their analogy to "bring (a warship) into readiness for active service." The last recorded words of Jesus, before His return to Heaven, were spoken to followers like you and me. For generations, those words have been known as The Great Commission. As you read these words, it's my prayer that you will hear them fresh, as they are being spoken by our Lord, to you and me... Matthew 28:18-20, “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Join us each Sunday in January as we receive instruction and are made ready for active service.
