God ask, “Are you willing to be saved?”

The sad truth is that many know of Jesus, but are unwilling to be saved.

·        Many, like David, recognize their sin

·        Many, like David, are convicted of their heart for the wrong they have done

·        But many run from the Lord instead of running to him in repentance

·        Some are boastful of their sin

·        Some are to ashamed to have it exposed

John 3:19-20 -  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

The Hallmarks of the True Believer

It is true that God accepts you as you are, however; once you have become his child… he expects a change.  There are some hallmarks that are revealed in a true believer.

·        Holiness1 Peter 1:15-16 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

·        Sanctified by the Blood of JesusHebrews 13:12 - Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

·        Self-Denial - Matthew 16:24 - Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

·        Repentance Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

·        Submission - Ephesians 5:21 - Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

·        Self-Discipline – Psalm 119:101 – I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your Word

The way of the wicked

·        They stumble in darkness - Proverbs 4:19 - The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

·        They are an outrage - Proverbs 15:9 - The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

·        They are set for judgement

Proverbs – 11:21 – Assuredly, the evil ma will not go unpunished, But the descendants of the righteous will be delivered.

·        Joy

·        Safety

·        Blessings

·        Romans 14:17-19 – For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and the joy in the Holy Ghost.

Some answer

·        I desire to be saved, but not like this…

·        I don’t need to be saved, I’m good enough,

·        No one tells me what to do, there is not God

·        I intend to when I’m older… when I am a better person… before I die…

·        I am afraid… I’m not worthy of being saved… I’ve done horrible things…

But God desires all to be saved

·        Submit to his wisdom

·        Put yourself at his mercy

·        Trust in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Salvation

Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the give of God

Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus , and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
