What does Jesus do first in Matthew? Teach his disciples. And in his teachings, he reminds them that the way ahead is arduous and difficult but not without a blessing. Sometimes it might feel when life is hard that we somehow deserved the difficulty. But we are reminded today... that life in general... is challenging. It is in the hard moments of life, and only in those moments that we discover the gift of resilience. SUNDAY COLLECT: Almighty and everlasting God, you govern all things both in heaven and on earth: Mercifully hear the supplications of your people, and in our time grant us your peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
