This week we read from Matthew 10 where Jesus sends his disciples on a missionary journey. Jesus sends them dependent upon the hospitality of others. They had to learn to ask for what they needed. We talked a lot this Sunday about the value of naming what we need and asking for help. It seems somewhat counterintuitive to name our needs but when we have the courage to name them to others we experience a deep and profound joy because it reveals to others how they might help and love us better.
