Advice For Troublesome Times

Text: VS 28

1Jn 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

1Jn 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

1Jn 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1Jn 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

1Jn 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1Jn 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

1Jn 2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1Jn 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1Jn 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

As we finish up Chapter 2 we see the Apostle John was not afraid to call out false teachers were here he calls the antichrists. This is not the Antichrist of Revelation.

Any one who denies Christ as the Saviour of the world is considered an antichrist.

We as believers need to be on our toes especially during these end times just as John was already looking for the second coming of Jesus for false teachers/antichrists.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

I can remember a southern gospel song from back in my early days as a Christian by the Dixie Melody Boys "Good Ole Boys" look it up on youtube when you get a minute. I said that for this and you hear it all the time "It doesn't make any difference what a man believes just as long as he lives a good life and doesn't get into trouble." This is unbiblical to the utmost because of Ephesians 2:8&9

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

It makes the difference on where YOU will spend YOUR eternal life, in heaven or hell.

With all the false teachers in pulpits, on the radio, on social media, podcasts and TV we have to be even more so on the alert than even back in John's day.

THE REASON FOR THE ADVICE(SEDUCERS)

John's readers were very special to him that is another reason he called them "little children" because he was writing to the old and young that were part of the family of God. This is also why it is important after getting saved that you find a good Bible preaching Bible teaching New Testament Church. It is also OUR responsiblility as Christitans if we lead someone to the Lord to deciple them and help them grow and get rooted in the word of God and help them find that church.

As we stated in our introduction about the antichrist John was already looking for the 2nd coming and as we see just this week the continued attacks on Israel and the unrest all around the world especially here in the US. The soon returning of Jesus for His bride is soon at hand. Before you ask NO I do not know the day nor the hour only God the Father Himself knows that.

The word Antichrist is found in the New Testament 5 times, 1 Jn 2:18,22;4:3 2 Jn 7. In all of these instances it refers to false teachers. In Mat 24:24 and Mark 12:22 they are refered to as false Christ.

The real anti Christ or false Christ will set himself as Christ and give the world 3 1/2 years of peace and then 3 1/2 years of the worse this world has ever seen.

Also we can see they were false teachers because they left the true teaching of Christ and went and did their own thing.

In VS 19 John is inclining that the believers stay together. That is why Church it is imperative to find a Good Church and stay in and support it. This is where you and your family will learn of false doctrine and teachers. Men it is imperative that you have your family in a good church and guys and gals if you are at the dating age or thinking about dating someone. If they do NOT have a desire to be in church and listen to sound doctrine you need to keep looking. Don't wait till its too late and be stuck after you get married because THEY will pull you out of church. THIS IS THE SOUL PUROPOSE OF FALSE BELIVERS AND TEACHERS! They are a puppet of the devil just as he is a lion going around to deovour or destroy so are the false teachers and believers.

Also these false teachers leaving the truth shows that darkness is not at home in the light. The light bears new Christians and the darkness condemns the soul for an eternity in HELL!!!!!

If you have a Godly Pastor or teacher you should not disrespect them because all they are trying to do is teach you and make you aware of people that are trying to hinder your growth as a Christian.

John finishes up this part of our scripture that any one who denies Chirst deity is not a Christian at all. The false teachers of John's day are just as evident if not more in our day and they do not have the FATHER in them.

THE RESULT OF THE ADVICE:SAFETY VS 24-29

The secret of our safety as a Christian is to remain in the Biblical doctrines that first brought us to Christ in the first place. If we abide in that doctrine we will not go a stray. Just as us as Christian parents we are told in Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Just like a parent as a pastor I am trying to keep you safe from the false teachers. Even in the Baptist denomination there are false teachers. Yes and you know that I am right.

The Holy Spirit is our safety office outside of the church and CHURCH make sure you are prayed up and studied up so you hear that still small voice to keep you safe. Just remember what King Solomon wrote througout the book of Proverbs to his son about listening to his mom and dad's instruction.

We are anointed through the Holy Spirit the moment when we get saved and we carry them till our eyes close in death.

Every one who practices righteouseness can know that he or she is part of God's family however leading that life is only possible through the leading and evidence of the Holy Spirit in their life as It teaches and empoweres them.

CONCLUSION

John gave sound advice to his "little children" for troublesome times. If every Christian practiced his teaching no Christian would be led astray by false teaching. Yet still every day thousands are enticed by lights, smoke prosperity preaching which is unscriptural and all other false teachings because it looks easier than walking the straight and narrow path with Jesus.

LITTLE CHILDREN today I urge you to listen to the calling of the Holy Spirit first of all if you are not saved and secondly as a Child of the King head the advice that John gives us this morning and be aware of false teachers.

Just remember 2 Tim 2:15

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
