UNSHAKEABLE - 3
Psalm 55:22 (NAS) Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
We want to bring the HOPE OF JESUS to everyone, everywhere, every day.
To be a movement of HOPE we must be a people of PRAYER.
Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer
Acts 4:31-33 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered
together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak
the word of God with boldness. 32 Now the full number of those who believed were
of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was
his own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were
giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon
them all.
WHAT IS PRAYER?
A conversation with our Good Father.
Prayer is not just a dinner time nursery rhyme or a religious exercise.
Prayer is a lifestyle it’s not a last resort.
You can think of the word “prayer” as the word “talk.”
Prayer is where you talk to God and listen.
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and
unsearchable things you do not know.
Praying is an “us” thing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves,
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from
heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Some of you have experienced healing this year because the people of SAF
have prayed for you.
WHY DO WE PRAY?
To see things on earth as it is in Heaven.
Matthew 6:9-10 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Your prayers can make their earth as it is in Heaven.
Start looking at God’s promises in Scripture through the lens of “we” not “me.””
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When you start to pray for their breakthrough you position yourself to receive
yours.
HOW DO WE PRAY?
1. THANKFULLY.
Colossians 4:2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with
thanksgiving.
2. CONTINUOUSLY
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks
in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Pray all the time, eyes up, heart open.
You don’t have time not to pray.
God is as interested in getting heaven into us now as he is in getting us into
heaven later.
3. POWERFULLY
James 5:16 … The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is
working.
Because you are righteous you have powerful prayers.
When you gather, pray out loud, confidently, let Heaven hear you and Hell
fear you.
Acts 16:25-26 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to
God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And
immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened.
