The Poor Widow

Mark 12:41-44 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put

money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor

widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans.

43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to

you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the

treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty

put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

1. God sees PEOPLE that no one else sees.

Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy

dwelling.

Ex 22:22-24 “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. 23 If you do

and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. 24 My anger will be aroused,

and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your

children fatherless.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to

look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being

polluted by the world.

2. God sees ACTIONS that no one else sees.

Matt 10:9 “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts—

1 Cor 16:2 On every Lord’s Day, each of you should put aside something from

what you have earned during the week. And use it for the offering. The amount

depends on how much the Lord has helped you earned. The Living Bible

3. He sees ATTITUDES no one else sees

Mark 12:38-40 Then He said to them in His teaching, “Beware of the scribes,

who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, 39 the

best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, 40 who devour

widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive

greater condemnation.”

Your heart controls your attitude.
Your attitude controls your actions.
