The Gospel of John
Don’t Be Troubled
John 14:1-14
(John 14:1 ESV) “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
· Jesus would never give you a COMMAND that is IMPOSSIBLE for you to keep.
YOU CAN STOP STRESSING OUT…
1. Because of WHO you KNOW.
(John 14:1 ESV) “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
2. Because of WHERE you will GO.
(John 14:2 ESV) In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
(Revelation 21:1-2 ESV) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
(John 14:3 ESV) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
3. Because of WHAT He will SHOW you.
(John 14:3 ESV) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
o The WAY.
(John 14:4-6 ESV) And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
o The FATHER.
(John 14:7-8 ESV) If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
(John 14:9 ESV) Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
(John 14:10-11 ESV) Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
(1 John 1:1 ESV) That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—
o GREATER things.
(John 14:12 ESV) “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
(John 20:30-31 ESV) Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
(John 14:12b ESV) ….and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
(John 14:16-17 ESV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,17 even the Spirit of truth…
(John 16:7 ESV) Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
(John 14:12 ESV) “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
(John 14:13-14 ESV) Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
