SIX INCREDIBLE THINGS THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES:
• He COMES to HELP us.
John 16:5-6 (ESV) “I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
John 16:7 (ESV) Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
1 Corinthians 6:19 (ESV) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
• He CONVICTS unbelievers regarding SIN.
John 16:8-9 (ESV) And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me…
• He CONVICTS believers of our RIGHTEOUSNESS in Christ.
John 16:10 (ESV) concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer…
Romans 8:1 (ESV) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
• He REMINDS us of SATAN’S DEFEAT.
John 16:11 (ESV) concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
• He GUIDES us into TRUTH.
John 16:12-13 (ESV) “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
John 14:26 (ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 (NLT) That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”[a] 10 But[b] it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
• He GLORIFIES CHRIST to us.
John 16:14-15 (ESV) He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV) And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[a] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[b] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
