Episode Notes

Matthew 7:24–29

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.

26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 because he was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.

What is the foundation of your family?

3 Foundational Habits for Families

Matthew 7:24

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

1. Talk about God and talk with Him.

Deuteronomy 6:6–9

“These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”

2. Set clear priorities.

Matthew 6:33

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”

3. Love one another with the love of God.
