EASTER AT SAF
LIFTED
(John 11:1-5 NIV) Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.) 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus
1. God is motivated by HIS LOVE for you.
(John 3:16 NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
2. God loves BAD PEOPLE.
3. God’s love is GREATER than our love.
(1 John 4:10 NIV) This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
(Matthew 4:23 ESV) And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
(John 11:25-26 NIV) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
(John 11:35 NIV) Jesus wept.
4. God’s love is NEVER WASTED.
5. God’s love is always NOW.
(Romans 12:15 NIV) Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
John 11:38-44 NIV Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” 40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
(John 11:25-26 NIV) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
“For every cry, there is an answer God--I am. I need hope. I am. I need a fresh start. I am. Nobody’s listening to me. I am. I don’t have a prayer. I am. I can’t hold on. I am. My kids deserve more. I am. I’m pouring into others, who’s pouring into me? I am. I’ve given all I can give and it’s not enough. I am. I’m tired. I am. I quit! I am. I can’t. I am. I need a drink. I am. I need a fix. I am. I need a lover. I am. Somebody just hold me. I am. I am the solution, the restorer, the builder, the answer, the Wise one, the coming one, the mighty One. I am the Lord and there is no other. I am God and there is none bedside me. I am the first and the last. I am the alpha and Omega. I am the beginning and the end, I am.” - Louie Giglio
