HOPE HAS A NAME – 2
“Mighty God”

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
1. WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT HE IS MIGHTY GOD?

 HE IS THE SOURCE OF POWER.
 HIS POWER IS LIFE GIVING.
Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your
great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ME?

 JESUS’ POWER IS AT WORK IN YOU.
Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do
what pleases him.
 JESUS’ POWER IS AT WORK FOR YOU.
Isaiah; 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, (youth in Hebrew means Olympic athlete, best of the
best) and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their
strength.”

Philippians 4:13, Paul wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So
now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work
through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses and in the insults, hardships,
persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

 JESUS’ POWER IS AT WORK THROUGH YOU.
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will
be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea,
in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
2 Corinthians 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive
words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on
men's wisdom, but on God's power.
