Him and Her- 3

 In The Middle

11-18-19

Thank you so much for your help today! Please put the different points/scriptures and pictures up as I come to them. Especially with the last scripture from 1 John—leave that one up on screen as until I finish out the last point.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails...

In marriage, we never know what things we will face. We can only choose how we will face those things: With the love of Christ.

(would be great if you could put a picture of the author with this quote)

“They can have this love for each other even at those moments when they do not like each other; as you love yourself even when you do not like yourself. They can retain this love even when each would easily, if they allowed themselves, be ‘in love’ with someone else. ‘Being in love’ first moved them to promise fidelity: this quieter love enables them to keep the promise. It is on this love that the engine of marriage is run: being in love was the explosion that started it.” –CS Lewis

Discussion Questions for Life Group

1 Corinthians 13 talks about the way a loving person will act, not way a person in love will feel. How might this understanding of love be helpful to a marriage that is on the rocks?

Of the characteristics of love listed in 1 Corinthians 13, which one or two do you think can be most challenging in a marriage? Why?

Share an example of a time when you saw 1 Corinthians 13 type of love lived out in marriage. This can be a personal example or something you have seen in the marriage of someone else.
