Episode Notes

#Realtalk week 3: Check Yo Self.

Ephesians 5:21

“submit to one another out of reverence for Christ”

The key to relationships is mutual submission because Christ submitted to us.

How do we submit?

6 questions we must ask in order to have stronger relationships.

1. Who is in charge of my life?

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Key idea: build your faith first.

2. Do I help other’s Grow closer to God?

Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens Iron, so one person sharpens another.

Make a list based on your weaknesses not your strengths.

3. Do I know where I’m headed in life?

Amos 3:3

Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?

Correct order in relationships:

Master (God) Mission (calling) Mate (other person)

4. Do I fight fair?

Proverbs 18:2

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.

5. What about HUGS?

How far is too far?

Ephesians 5:3

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

Your strength comes from keeping God’s standards.

6.  Am I a good friend?

Are friendships important to you?

Bonus Question:

Are you committed to more than just an earthly relationship?

Marriage is a picture of your relationship with Jesus.
