Carols – Part 2

O Come All Ye Faithful

Born the King of Angels

Now in Flesh Appearing

Come Ye to Bethlehem

The wondrous part of Christmas is that God, who is 100% faithful, 100% joyful, and 100% triumphant, came to those who were not any of those things.

1) Jesus came to call sinners.

Matthew 9:12-13

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

2) Jesus came to call the weary and burdened.

Mathew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

3) Jesus brings faith to the unfaithful.

Hebrews 12:2

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…

Romans 10:17

Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Rhēma – spoken / understood word

Logos – written word

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

4) Jesus reminds us that it’s not about the quantity of our faith, but the power of a faithful God.

Luke 17:5-6

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
