A Woman’s Faith Saves Her Daughter
Mark 7:24-30
24 From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a
house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden. 25 For a woman
whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at
His feet. 26The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking
Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said to her, “Let the children
be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
28 And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the
table eat from the children’s crumbs.” 29 Then He said to her, “For this saying go your
way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” 30 And when she had come to her
house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.
24 From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a
house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden.
25 For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she
came and fell at His feet. 26The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and
she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
Matthew 15:22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to
Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely
demon-possessed.” 23 But He answered her not a word.
1. What do we do with Jesus’ silence?
He didn’t answer her at first.
We must take the whole bible into consideration when we run into a difficult place.
Dan 10:12-14 says, Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that
you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words
were heard; and I have come because of you words. 13. But the prince of the kingdom
of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes,
came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 14. Now I have
come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the
vision refers to many days yet to come.”
2 Corinthians 12:7-9 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of
the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I be exalted above measure. 8. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three
times that it might depart from me.
9. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you. For my strength is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore most gladly I would rather boast in my infirmities, that the power
of Christ may dwell upon me.
2. We must lean into Him.
V 26. …and she kept asking Him…
Matthew 15:25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
27 But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the
children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” 28 And she answered and said to Him,
“Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.”
3. What does it take to press through? Faith
Mark 7:29 Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of
your daughter.”
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be
opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him
who knocks it will be opened. 9Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for
bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11If
you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will
your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Mark 7:30 And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and
her daughter lying on the bed.
