Worth Fighting For
Series: Unchained
January 06, 2019
Frank Foreman
What in this world is worth fighting for? Our families? Our jobs? Our spot in line at the DMV? How about the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Paul seemed to think so and as he wrote the letter to the churches of Galatia, he emphasized both the power of the Gospel to change lives but also the importance of keeping the simple message pure in a world that would try to pervert that simple truth. On this Sunday Frank Foreman began a new series of messages over the book of Galatians and shared this word of truth and hope for our church family and for those who may listen.
Episode Notes
BIG IDEA:
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is worth fighting for.
The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus is enough ... Salvation & Transformation.Galatians 1:1-10
1. The Gospel has the power to change my life.
Verses 1-2, Paul, an apostle— not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead— and all the brothers who are with me,
2. The Gospel has the ability to offer me grace and peace.
Verses 3-5, Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
3. The Gospel has the authority to force me to choose.
Verses 6-7, I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the Gospel of Christ.
The truth of the Gospel is under attack and the result will be either Heaven or hell.
Verses 8-10, But even if we or an angel from Heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Next Step: I will engage in this fight starting with self-evaluation:
- Have I accepted a Gospel that is easy or convenient?
- Am I willing to repent and change direction?
- Will I care enough to share the Gospel?
