Series: I AM

Frank Foreman

Frank Foreman continues our series of messages this week based on the seven affirmative statements Jesus makes about Himself in the Gospel of John. He begins each of these unique with the statement "I Am." This week, we look at his linked statements from John 14 ... I Am the WAY, I Am the TRUTH, I Am the LIFE. ------------- Of course, these statements Jesus makes were not simply affirmations of His character. They tied directly to the personal name of God from the Old Testament (I Am that I Am). In each of these statements, He profoundly ties His characteristics to the Father and declares His divine nature.

Episode Notes

Big Idea: Jesus never promises to remover trouble...  He promises to remain faithful.

John 14:1, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.”

1.  Belief stills my troubled heart.

Philippians 4:6-7, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

John 14:2-4, “In My Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

2.  Trust strengthens my unseen future.

Colossians 2:13-14, And you, who were dead in your trespasses... God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross.

John 14:5-7, Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to Him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

3.  Obedience straightens my crooked road.

Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Next Step:  If you fee lost in worry, turn around...  Jesus is closer than you think.
