What's on Your Doorposts?

Series: The God Who Rescues

October 04, 2020
Frank Foreman

To know the story of Exodus and God’s people is to recognize it as our own: He hears us and reaches out to rescue us. Through this series, we hope to learn the story of Exodus, grow in our awe and worship of God and celebrate the One who draws us out of our sin and draws us into relationship with Him. ------------- The Passover celebration commemorates a time when God accomplished His ultimate purpose of deliverance of His people from the land of Egypt. But, of course, the connection to Christians and the Church today still hold special significance. This week, we look at Christ's fulfillment of the Passover and the correlation of His blood to the blood of the Passover lamb from Exodus.

BIG IDEA:

Salvation comes by the Blood of the Lamb.

Psalm 103:11-12, For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.

2.  THE PERFECT LAMB PAID OUR RANSOM

Verse 5:  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old.

1st Peter 1:19, ...but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

1st Peter 2:24, He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree that we might die to sin and live in righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed

3.  THE RISEN LAMB RECEIVES OUR WORSHIP

Verse 27:  And the people bowed their heads and worshipped.

Revelation 5:12, ...saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”

Psalm 95:6, Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!

Memory Verse:  Exodus 12:27, And the people bowed their heads and worshipped.
