Frank Foreman
Week 12 of the series on discipleship. Over the next three months, we are looking intently at the book of Matthew; specifically we will be focused on the teachings of Jesus directly related to discipleship. In this message, Frank leads us through the events of the Resurrection, why it mattered then and why it matters today for all of us.
Episode Notes
Matthew 28:1-7, Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from Heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
The resurrection matters because…
1. Heaven and hell are real places.
Luke 12:5, Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!
2. We are powerless to deal with sin.
Romans 5:6, For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
3. Jesus is the only way to salvation.
John 14:6, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Challenge: Embrace the truths of the resurrection and be changed.
