Promise Keeper
Series: The God Who Rescues
September 06, 2020
Frank Foreman
In this first message, Frank introduces the setting of and for the book of Exodus. As we look at Israelites, "how we got here" story, we will see once again that their arrival in Egypt, growth as a nation, fall into bondage and eventual rescue was not mere coincidence but a continuing fulfillment from the true Promise Keeper.
Episode Notes
PAUSE to CONSIDER: What is the most fantastic (unbelievable) part of the Exodus story?
Exodus 1:11, Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. They built for Pharaoh store cities, Pithom and Raamses.
Exodus 12:37, And the people of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.
Numbers 33:3-5, They set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the day after the Passover, the people of Israel went out triumphantly in the sight of all the Egyptians, while the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn, whom the LORD had struck down among them. On their gods also the LORD executed judgments. So the people of Israel set out from Rameses and camped at Succoth.
Genesis 47:11, Then Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
PAUSE to CONSIDER: Do you need science to confirm Scripture in order to believe?
Genesis 1:1, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
1. God’s faithfulness is measured beyond generations.
Genesis 15:5, And He brought him outside and said, “Look toward Heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
2. God’s faithfulness is discovered in crooked lines.
Genesis 50:20, As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
3. God’s faithfulness is realized within His plan.
Exodus 1:7, But the people of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly; they multiplied and grew exceedingly strong, so that the land was filled with them.
