Series: PSALMS

February 04, 2018
Frank Foreman

The fifth sermon in a series of messages from the book of Psalms. This week, we begin a "series within the series" with a focus on the twenty-third chapter of Psalms. As we look at the first three verses of this familiar chapter we are reminded of God, our Shepherd, and his provision and look at the true purpose of God's direction for our lives.

Episode Notes

Psalm 23:1-2, The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside still waters.

Psalm 23:3, He restores my soul.  He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

God’s point is not ME, but HIM … and that’s ultimately better for me

1.  God’s pursuit of me is for the PRAISE of His glorious grace.

Isaiah 43:6-7, Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, whom I formed and made.

2.  God’s care for me frees me up to make MUCH of Him.

Matthew 5:16, In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.

3.  God’s love in me gives me reason to MEAN "not i but CHRIST"

Galatians 2:20, I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
