January 18, 2025
Frank Foreman

Sunday as Frank continued to preach through the book of 1 Corinthians, we learned much about God's grace. It's not a one-time occurrence to be affected by God's grace, but a lifelong journey.

Episode Notes

Series: Messy Church 1st Corinthians 1:4-9
Title: God’s Good Work January 12, 2025

Philippians 1:6, And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Big Idea: Our enemy will do everything he can to interrupt God’s good work…
Keep your eyes on God’s grace.

1. Past grace: Justification

We were justified at the moment of salvation.

1st Corinthians 1:4, I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus…

1st John 4:10, In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

2. Present grace: Sanctification

We are sanctified as we grow in spiritual maturity.

1st Corinthians 1:5-6, …that in every way you were enriched in Him in all speech and all knowledge

— even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—

2nd Peter 1:3, His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence…

3. Future grace: Glorification

We will be glorified as we enter into eternity with Him.

1st Corinthians 1:7-9, …so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 5:27, …so that He might present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

Next Step: Do not take God’s grace for granted…

But be patient as He completes His work in you.

1st Thessalonians 5:23, Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.
