Keeping On
Series: Remember My Chains
November 05, 2023
Frank Foreman
As we begin this study, we look to the opening fourteen verses of the letter as Paul not only encourages but also sets an example of pray for each other. A lesson we continue to be reminded of as we "fulfill the will of Christ" by accepting the burden of interceding in prayer for one another.
Episode Notes
(Journal) Colossians 1:1-9a
1st Corinthians 13:13, So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Big Idea: Keep on praying…. To be people of faith, love, and hope.
1st Thessalonians 5:16-18, Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Matthew 7:7-8, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
1. Pray to be filled with knowledge.
(Journal) Colossians 1:9
Romans 10:1-3, Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.
2. Pray to walking worthily.
(Journal) Colossians 1:10-11
Ephesians 4:1-3, I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
3. Pray to be more thankful.
(Journal) Colossians 1:12-14
Luke 17:15-16, Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving Him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.
Next Step: Pray through this outline every day this week.
Intentionally notice how you grow more faithful, loving, and hopeful.
