His Resurrection Matters!

Series: The Gospel Can't Be Contained

WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE POOR SOUND QUALITY OF THIS WEEK'S WORSHIP. THERE WERE TECHNICAL ISSUES BEYOND OUR CONTROL. The resurrection of Christ is a testimony of God's promise to us. Jesus' death on the cross was an act of grace to forgive our sins and the resurrection confirmed that truth and gives us hope for this life. It is quite truly the hinge of our faith. Without the resurrection, His promises, His teachings, His commandments are baseless and empty.

Episode Notes

Big Idea: The resurrection is the foundation upon which Christianity is built.

1.  The resurrection matters because it fulfilled prophecy.

Mark 8:31, And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.

2.  The resurrection matters because our justification hinges on it.

Romans 4:24b-25, It will be counted to us who believe in Him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

3.  The resurrection matters because it is fundamental to our faith.

1st Corinthians 15:3-7, For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

17-19, And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
