God Is Like No Other

Series: The God Who Rescues

October 18, 2020
Frank Foreman

The Israelites had experienced the euphoria or walking through the middle of the Red Sea, finding ultimate deliverance as they watched the waters come crashing down on their nemesis. Now, in response they sing songs of praise to the God of Heaven. The story and Scripture gives us an important reminder about who God truly is and why He is worthy of such praise.

Episode Notes

Pause to Consider: Anyone have a song that takes you back and reminds you of something significant?

Exodus 14:15-31

Pause to Consider:  Have someone read the Song of Moses:

Exodus 15:1-20

Exodus 15:11, Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

BIG IDEA:

The Holy Spirit inspires questions, not for His benefit but for ours...  And so we ask, “Who is like You, O LORD?”

Isaiah 45:5-6, I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides Me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know Me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides Me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.

1.  God is like no other:  He is majestic in holiness.

Isaiah 6:3, And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Revelation 4:8, And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

2nd Corinthians 5:21, For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

2.  God is like no other:  He is awesome in glorious deeds.

Psalm 77:11-13, I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old. I will ponder all Your work, and meditate on Your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?

Acts 2:11, (NASB) ...we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.

Ephesians 3:20-21, Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory...

3.  God is like no other:  He is actively doing wonders.

Psalm 75:1, We give thanks to You, O God; we give thanks, for Your name is near. We recount Your wondrous deeds.

Matthew 21:14-15, And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He did...  They were indignant.

Habakkuk 1:5, Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.

Pause to Consider: What mighty deeds or wonders of God have you experienced?

NEXT STEP:

Stop living as if there is any other like God.

Memory Verse: Exodus 15:11, Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
