November 25, 2018
Frank Foreman

The concluding message of the series on discipleship. Over the last three months, we have looked intently at the book of Matthew; specifically focused on the teachings of Jesus directly related to discipleship. In this final message, Frank takes us to those final words of Jesus to His disciples ... His Great Commission giving them the ultimate purpose as disciple-makers in the world.

Episode Notes

When Jesus tells us to "Go," He is commissioning us to continue His work

Matthew 28:16-20, Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.  And when they saw Him they worshiped Him, but some doubted.  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1.  MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS

John 13:34-35, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another:  just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

2.  BAPTIZE THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Acts 2:37-38, Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”  And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

3.  TEACH THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THE JESUS HAS COMMANDED

John 13:1 (NIV 1984), He showed them the full extent of His love.
