Dave Smith continues our latest sermon series, "Church on Purpose," a preaching series that reminds us how important it is to look back to the early church and to the word of God to find out God's will and purpose for us individually as Christians and collectively as a church family. ------------- In this fourth week, Dave re-opens up the book of Matthew and looks again to the Great Commission in Matthew 28. In so doing, we will together study the purpose we have as a church family to commit ourselves to Fellowship, recognizing that our connection to God and to our church family exists because of the saving blood of Jesus Christ ... a connection that occurs when we are baptized into Christ.

BIG IDEA
Fellowship means to “CONNECT PEOPLE” …through fellowship we EMBRACE the family of God.
1 John 1:1-7
People come to a church for many different reasons … but people INCLUDE, INVOLVE and INVEST themselves when they are connected through fellowship.
Our connection begins by BELIEVING (Acts 16:31-34)
Acts 16:31 … And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
- A truth VOICED by testimony
- A truth VINDICATED by circumstances
- A truth VERIFIED by reaction
Acts 2:42 … And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
- A common link through considerable GENEROSITY
- A common link through collective WORSHIP
- A common link through continual INTIMACY
Philippians 2:5 … Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus …
- Become like Christ with sympathetic HARMONY
- Become like Christ with selfless HUMILITY
- Become like Christ with sincere HUMANITY
Philippians 2:14-16 (The Message) … Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.

- Be INCLUDED by receiving Christ as your Savior
- Be INVOLVED by participating in the lives of others
- Be INVESTED by reflecting the love of Christ to everyone
