The fourth sermon in a series of messages from the book of Psalms. This week, we look at a passage from Psalm 51 and tie it to the historical narrative it is tied to when David's sin problem was confronted by the prophet Nathan in 2 Samuel 12. We can see through this message the value of true repentance and the restoration that can follow in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Episode Notes

2 Samuel 12:7-9 ... Nathan said to David, “You are the man! … Why have you despised the Word of the Lord, to do what is evil in His sight?”

1.  It takes COURAGE to confront a friend … Respect them

Psalm 51:10-12 ... Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.  Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

2.  It takes CHARACTER to repent of sin … Step up

Psalm 51:13 ... Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You.

3.  It takes COMPASSION to restore the fallen … Tell others

CHALLENGE:  Those who have been RESTORED by God’s grace can’t help but want that for others…

  • Have you?
