A Chapter of Farming

Series: A New Chapter

As the church of Acts begins another new chapter, it is clear that it was not a place for the for casual faith. Most evident is the impact that was seen in the lives of Christians like Peter, who learned about God's work in preparing others to receive the Gospel message--even ones we might have not assumed were good "soil" for planting a seed of faith.

Episode Notes

Acts 10:1-2, At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.

The definition of a good man:

1.  A good man FEARS GOD

Psalm 112:1, Praise the Lord!  Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments!

2.  A good man GIVES GENEROUSLY

Proverbs 19:17, Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.

3.  A good man PRAYS CONTINUALLY

1st Samuel 12:23, Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

These characteristics do not describe someone who was GOOD ENOUGH to earn God’s favor…

But rather someone who is standing right in the middle of FERTILE SOIL

Challenge:  Don’t judge the soil…   SCATTER SEED
