Series: The Gospel Can't Be Contained

There's nothing like a great church dinner with all the different casseroles, side dishes, desserts, etc. The great thing about them is everyone is welcomed. Even if you forgot about the dinner and didn't bring anything, the call goes out to join us anyway because, "There's always plenty to go around." ---------- Such was the case when Jesus fed the multitude of people who had come to hear Him teach. So much so that when they were done eating there were still twelve baskets of food that was collected. God had provided through His Son, Jesus. ---------- Of course, it would be short-sighted to just assume this was about providing food for hungry people. While that was indeed true, there was so much more truth that was taught through this miracle ... both then and now.
Episode Notes

Jehovah-jireh: The Lord who provides.

Matthew 11:28-30, Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
Hebrews 3:10-11, Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known My ways.’As I swore in My wrath ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”
2. Jesus provides truth for the wandering.
(Journal) Mark 6:33-34
Ezekiel 34:5-6, So they were scattered, because there was no shepherd, and they became food for all the wild beasts. My sheep were scattered; they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, with none to search or seek for them.
John 10:10-11, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
3. Jesus provides food for the hungry.
(Journal) Mark 6:35-44
John 6:35, Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.
