Satan deceives the world through "spiritual wickedness in high places." He deceives through false doctrine, ministers, teachers, apostles, and cults in the religious structures of the world: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12) Satan tries to hinder believers from effective Christian service to the world: "Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us" (1 Thessalonians 2:18). Satan uses the appeal of the world to entice believers to sin. He tempts you through the environment, philosophy, and systems of the world. He fosters a love of the world in your heart in violation of the Word of God which declares: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:15-16)
