The Call

The Call

Jesus calls people to Himself and taught that the kingdom of God is available to everyone, starting immediately. When Jesus refers to the kingdom of God, He doesn’t mean something that happens after death, far off in heaven; He equates the kingdom of God with God’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven. So, the kingdom of God is life as God intends it to be—life to the full, life in peace and justice, life in abundance and love. Jesus also tells us that all Scripture points to Him. (Luke 24:44-48) If this is so, how does God call people to Himself throughout Scripture? God created us to have a life of peace, justice, abundance, and love. Sin destroyed that model, but God works to transform and renew creation. This begins with individual responses as God calls each of us into His kingdom. This is a series on those God called to serve in His Kingdom from both the Old and New Testaments. Today the Lord continues to call people to special ministry assignments and in general calls. Each believer, not just those in full-time ministry are called to serve in God’s Kingdom in some unique way.
