II The Means of Our Growth V 1 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk… I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. (Job 23:12) Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2) “More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:10) The Goal of Our Growth …that by it you may grow up into salvation Were Saved from our sin and the eternal consequences of our sin. Being Saved (Sanctified) Will be Saved (Glorified) The Motivation for Our Growth if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good 1 The motivation for our growth is that we’ve “tasted that the Lord is good” and desire more of him Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! 2 Tasting that the Lord is good is about experiencing for yourself who God is and beholding his glory and sensing his presence and being captivated by him.
