Opening Move: At A Loss For Words

  • When we are confronted with a mystery, We are at a loss for words!
  • This is true natural mysteries!
  • Especially those intimate mysteries....
  • Like the mystery of human love
  • If you were to ask a young man why he was Smitten by his young woman
  • If you were to ask him why he was Captured by her love!
  • Why does he love?
  • He’s at a loss for words!
  • He stumbles over words
  • Yea, he even stumbles over his lips
  • It’s not so much that he cannot find any words...
  • But rather, that all the words seem so inadequate!
  • It takes time to fathom a mystery!
  • In my own experience..,
  • It took many years for me to find a word that adequately conveyed the heart of my love for my wife...
  • In fact, we were well-past our 15th anniversary before a suitable word
  • Was given to me!
  • HOME!

Second Move: The Church is at a loss for words to convey the significance of the mystery of Jesus Christ!

  • Or even more narrowly, the mystery of the Eucharist!
  • The Church seems to be at a loss for words...
  • No word seems sufficient for speaking of this Mystery of mysteries!
  • And so she has gushed with a thousand words to speak of this mystery!
  • Passover Lamb
  • Manna
  • Heavenly Banquet
  • Eucharistic Feast
  • Offering
  • Pure Victim, Holy Victim
  • Immaculate Victim
  • Sacrifice 
  • Lamb of God
  • Flesh of the Son of Man
  • The Blessed Sacrament 
  • The Holy Eucharist 
  • All Sweetness
  • The Real and Substantial Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ
  • Body of Christ
  • Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ 
  • Source of our Faith
  • Summit of our Faith
  • Supersubstantial Food
  • Our Daily Bread
  • Bread of Angels
  • Bread from Heaven
  • Bread of Life


Jesus said to them, 

"I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."


Concluding Move: The Bread that call us HOME!

  • So as you come on bended knee to receive... I invite you to...
  • Come and eat
  • Come and live forever!
  • Come and say, "Sir, give us this bread always."
  • Come and Get a taste for home
  • For it is our HOME
  • And, it calls HOME to JESUS CHRIST!
  • Our eternal HOME!
