Pastor Mike

Thank you for joining us today! We're glad you did! This message tells us how we can trust God in the storms of life. We can find comfort in Him during these times, because our God is a God of comfort!

Episode Notes

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12 (ESV)

I. IN THE STORM: REMEMBER THAT GOD IS SOVEREIGN
“And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:13 (ESV)

“The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103:19 (ESV)

God is the creator. He is the sustainer.
-He is Omnipotent (that means He is all powerful)
-He is Omniscient (That means He is all knowing)
-He is Omnipresent (that means He is ever present; He is always with you)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)

Jesus said, "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7 (ESV)

Jesus said, “for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8 (ESV)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV)

II. IN THE STORM: REMEMBER THAT GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
“For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.” Psalm 33:4 (ESV)

“if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB)

Able to:
…deliver Daniel from a lion’s den

“He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:27 (ESV)

He is Able to …deliver the Israelites from bondage in Egypt.
“Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.” Exodus 6:6 (ESV)

He is Able to …keep us in His hand (John 10:29)

“My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:29 (ESV)

He is Able to …build you up

“And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
Acts 20:32 (ESV)

He is Able to …make grace abound

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV)

Because He is able, He deserves the glory.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.”
Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)

III. IN THE STORM: REMEMBER THAT GOD IS LOVE

“But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.”
Psalm 5:11 (NKJV)

“For if He causes grief, Then He will have compassion According to His abundant lovingkindness.”
Lamentations 3:32 (NASB)

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV)

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (ESV)

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

Jesus said, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10 (ESV)
