But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!’ Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, ‘We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.’ So Moses prayed for the people. The Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.’ So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived (Num. 21:4–9). A Sinful People John 3 14–16 Highlights the Israelites’ Lack of Trust Towards God They distrusted God’s guidance, They blasphemed God’s greatness They doubted God’s goodness. They spurned God’s generosity They despised God’s gifts. A Sympathetic Provider Three characteristics of God The wrath of God The Mercy of God The faithfulness of God. The Invitation Recognize the Extent of your Rebellion Jesus uses this illustration to show very clearly that every single person born into this world has been bitten by the fiery serpent of sin and sin’s deadly venom pervades every one of our veins. Satan had blinded him to the depth of his sinfulness. III. Love that Costs Look to the Expression of His Love Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up” (John 3:14). “I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself” (John 12:32 John 3 14–16 Calls Us to Avoid Distraction from the Adversary GRACE BAPTIST GRACE BAPTIST PODCAST HTTPS://PODPOINT.COM/GRACE-BAPTIST-CHURCH-OF-SECOND-LIFE-PODCAST WEBSITE https://gracebaptistofsecondlife.godaddysites.com

Episode Notes

JOHN 3:14-21  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.[h]16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
