Love at Ground Zero

  29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

Mark 12:29-30

 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, hypocrites, as it is written,“‘ This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 7 in vain do they worship me,  teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ 8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

I. The Oneness of God

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:4-5

II. The Comprehensiveness of the Command

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30

III. Love from the Heart

15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. John 21:15-17
