Boldness LISTEN ON MIXLR @ https://gbcsl.mixlr.com WATCH US ON YOUTUBE LIVE @ http://www.youtube.com/gracechurch-slus/live The Key to the Parable: Look through the perspective of the man in need. Shameless Praying… 1 God is able. A He has the supply. “Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.” Now listen to Verse 9, “I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it (Ps. 50:9–12) B He has the sovereignty. Job 42:2, “I know that you can do all things; (now underline this) no plan of yours can be thwarted.” No plan of yours can be thwarted, cannot be changed, at all. Psalm 33:10–11 The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” His plans, his purposes are fixed. From generation to generation, his plans are not changing 2 God is approachable. God delights in revealing Himself to those who are bold enough to bother Him. A God invites us to bother Him anytime… 1 It is never too late. 2 It is never too early. B God invites us to bother Him in everything… 1 There is nothing too small 2 There is nothing too great 3 God is active. The picture we need to see… A Our God is active before you even say a word to Him. B Approach God in prayer, like he’s active.. 4 God is not asleep A The privilege we need to embrace… Intercession is the means by which we participate in the activity of God in other people’s lives. B The promise we need to remember… C Prayer to God on behalf of others is never, never in vain. Episode Notes
Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend and he goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me and I have nothing to set before him.’ Then the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, though he will not give him the bread because he is his friend yet because of the man’s boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. So I say to you: Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened (Luke 11:5-10)
