And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him… Colossians 3:10 Sometimes when we wake up in the morning or maybe even when we go to bed at night, we don't always feel like Christ is with us or that we are even in him. These are the words that came to mind this morning, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.” I then reached for the papers with prayers and declarations, and these words caught my eye; I am precious in the sight of my God and I have been considered honorable as it is written in Isaiah 43:4 I'm raised up and seated with my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus in heavenly places as it is written in Ephesians 2:6 I'm treading on serpents and scorpions, with full authority of Christ Jesus over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt me as it is written in Luke 10:19 I'm submitted to God, i resist the devil and he flees from me as it is written in James 4:7 So as I was meditating on these scriptures and feeling good another feeling came up, it was anxiety and I was led to Joshua 1:1-9 particularly verses 8 and 9. This is how you defeat the enemy, we first submit to God. The meditation of the word is everything for us; It is what brings us into clarity. How can I break this down more? Meditating on the word is not a religious act just some ritual we perform every day, we are pursuing God. We are looking at what the Creator did then and what He is doing now through Jesus Christ, Hebrews 1:1. What we have through Jesus is an active relationship with God by His Spirit who teaches us what is true. John 16:13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth… So if at any part of the day I should feel alone, fearful, angry, unforgiving, hurt or any other taunt of sins nature rise up, I can say, “Lord I want you, show me your ways. This is how I feel but you are who I want.” And then watch how the Lord redirects your steps. Scripture for thought Joshua 1:1-9 Deuteronomy 6:5 Proverbs 9:10-11 Colossians 3:1-17 Ephesians 4:24 17-32 I pray we would see these scriptures not like something we do laboriously with human mind and effort, but with a great desire for God and to live as His creation. Anytime anything speaks contrary in us, we lay out our soul like an open book before God, so we can be reminded of what is true. Truthfully, WE ARE NEVER ALONE, ESPECIALLY WITH OUR THOUGHTS, God knows them all. Understand that everyone is bear before God, but we want our deeds to be exposed to the light so our motives will be pure. What we think and what we choose to hold on to is a choice. (Hebrews 4:13, John 3:21)
