Cornelius, a God fearing Roman centurion, following the instructions of an angel, sends for Peter and is converted. The Holy Spirit comes upon Cornelius and his household and they begin to speak in other languages (as happened at Pentecost). This demonstrated that God has no favorites and will save all who put their faith in Jesus, regardless of their background.
