Our commitment to love is rooted in the teaching of Jesus who showed us what love looked like not just in his encounters with people around him but in the structures of society. Jesus had much to say about what loving kinship looked like in the midst of so much oppression , violence, and abuse of power. Jesus' words of warning can make us deaf to the plights around us or make us awakened participants in the re-orientation that God's kin-dom demands. Which response will we choose?
