In the last few weeks we have been overwhelmed by the pictures from the Middle East. We did not need another “hotspot” in the world, another place of suffering, violence, and despair. Add war to the many other ills around us and we can easily be discouraged. At the cornerstone of our faith is a hope that the current condition of creation will not win out, that something new will emerge and in some ways is emerging. This week Pastor Juan Carlos Huertas takes us to a book in the bible that often is controversial, and yet one that has much to reveal to us about hope in the midst of despair, and new life in the midst of death. Not just someday at the end of time, but in this moment.
