The Baptism of Jesus

Matthew 3:13-17

I am continually being trained by the Master healer of mind , body, soul and spirit;

The Holy Spirit of God into whom I have submitted my  entire life.

He is  my Holy Mentor ;

Jesus Christ and his teachings have empowered me to bring the Word of God, Thank you for this Privilege

Let’s take a look at Matthew 3:13-17 “Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

 In this particular testimony in Matthew Jesus instructed John the Baptist to Baptize him. Jesus the only begotten son allowed John who knew who Jesus was could not understand the reason that Jesus wanted him to baptize him. Jesus was a manifestation of God in the flesh.

Let’s look at things in this manner, as once John obeyed the Word of God, he received insight from God! John first obeyed Jesus although he just didn’t understand. But through John’s Obedience, he was reconciled to God, he heard From God. That is an analogy that I give you because when a believer listens to the Word of God, when we listen to Jesus we are reconciled to God and we will hear from God! He will enlighten our mind, hearts so that we understand, so that we are given insight into what God wants us to do. He gives us divine revelation. Another insight into this particular passage is that God desire the believer to be baptized via water.

The significance of this water baptism is it is an external symbol of our participation in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. For instance, when one goes down in the water, it symbolizes participation in the death and burial of Jesus and when one comes up, it signifies the resurrection! Therefore, if you have not already done so, find a Bible Believing Christian denomination and receive the physical baptism that Jesus himself participated in as an example for us to follow! I pray that this message has blessed you, have a blessed day!
