“A text without a context is a pretext for a proof text.”

About biblical contentment:

1. Contentment is not complacency 3:10-14

2. Contentment is not dependent on circumstances - v. 15

3. Contentment is learnable - vv. 11-12

4. Contentment is the result of total dependence on God - v. 13

A. Perspective - v. 12:12, 18, 21, 3:8, 20-21, Heb. 13:5


B. Priorities - 1 Tim. 6:6-10


C. Power Source - 1 Tim. 1:12; 2 Cor. 3:5

Philippians 4:13 in context:

“I can do (endure) all things God calls me to do, through Him who gives me strength.”
