The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians the reason he preached the simple message of Christ crucified and risen rather than using philosophical and rhetorical arguments was because he feared robbing the gospel message of its power. For many years the church in American has used foolish worldly wisdom and marketing techniques to try to get people inside the church. This has been a failure because it is based on several myths which we examine in this message.

Myths of the church growth movement:

1. If we entertain people, make them feel comfortable and meet their “felt needs” they will come to church, like us and want to join us.

2.  It's the preacher's job to make the Bible relevant and entertaining to irreligious people.

3. Bible preaching, teaching, fellowship and evangelism aren't enough and God needs our help.
