Message: Pastor Rick Betts - 1 Mark 1-8 Mark 1 : 1-6 1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2As it is written in the Prophets: “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.”3“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord;Make His paths straight.’ ” 4John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. 6Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. II Kings 1 : 7-8 7Then he said to them, “What kind of man was it who came up to meet you and told you these words?” 8So they answered him, “A hairy man wearing a leather belt around his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.” Malachi 4 : 5-6 5Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 6And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” Luke 1 : 15-17 15For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Matthew 17 : 10-13 10And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 11Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist. Mark 1 : 7-8 7And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. 8 I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” John 1 : 29-34 29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ 31I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.” 32And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” Psalms 2 : 7 7“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son,Today I have begotten You. Isaiah 42:1 1“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him;
