Ps Buddy Abadilla

Ps Buddy shared a deep insight into the biblical view of true friendship as exhibited in the relationship of David and Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-4). Their friendship is deeply rooted in love. Key principles in true friendship are: (1) to value and to stand for the truth at all times; (2) to value character we submit to God’s sovereignty; and (3) to value sacrifice as we follow God’s will. Jonathan knew that David was anointed to be the next king of Israel, and he willingly sacrificed his future reign as heir-apparent to King Saul because he loved David and he submitted to the plan of God for Israel. In genuine love, Jonathan took off his royal robe along with his tunic, sword, bow and belt and gave it to David. Jesus loved us so much that He left heaven to be amongst men and died on the cross that we may receive salvation and have eternal life. Jesus is our forever true friend. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John15:12-13) #ccc2016 #overflow #unshakeable
