Genesis 16 is classified as a "text of terror" for how horrifically Abram and Sarai treat their servant Hagar. But this story is not just about Abram and Sarai. Instead, Hagar takes control of her own life and learns that God has been with her all along. So too, in our darkest moments, when all seems lost, God is working in the midst for tragedies and trauma to bring new life, new paths, new hope.
